yum...

(x-posted at myspace.com/writegrrrl)

Last night's dinner with Joshua Ploeg was pretty amazing - although the food was so rich that this morning I felt like I would never have the desire to eat again.

Luckily that passed.

A run-down of sorts, of the menu that Olivia picked out for us:

Onion fritters - came with some sort of carmalized dipping sauce. Had kind of a sweet and smoky flavor

Plantain crepes - I always think of plantains as deep-fried but these were soft like sweet potatoes. Also had a lot of onions and some amazing Indian spices

Apple and vegetable salad with creamy dressing. Yum.

Seminola soup with carrots and lemon. Again, yum.

The main course was something that Josh told Cory was sort of his take on the whole Turducken phenomenon - it was three types of fake meats with a tasty gravy (kind of sweet) and accompanied by a salad with super-spicy dressing. Many people couldn't finish the salad. I gave it the ol' college try.

A hot beverage consisting of vanilla soymilk, almond syrup, white tea and ginger. Amazing.

Coconut rolls with passionfrut and chocolate syrup. Again, amazing.

Obviously I'm no food critic - my most sophisticated review word is "yum"

Loved it.

Anyway, I've already purchased visited Microsmicpublishing web site and purchased his zine and one of his cookbooks. I really hope he does move here to Sac and open a vegan cafe. That would be heaven. I'd probably gain 10 pounds, but at least it'd be a very happy, vegan 10 pounds.
