I'm torn about this rain thing. On one hand I love the winter and the coziness and so forth but on the other hand there is yard work to do and it's no fun pruning roses and pulling weeds when it's blustery and gray. Plus, I want to rollerskate.

Thinking about going to HQ tonight so see the Robert Altman film Thieves Like Us. But I still have so much to do today that, come 8pm, I might not be feeling the get-out-of-the-house vibe. But next week they have John Cassavetes' Love Streams and I believe that will be a must.

Aside from the weather conundrum the weekend's been lovely so far. The Kepi show at Red Square turned into a full-on Ghoulies-meet-the-Haints show. It was so very rocking and if there had been more room in the room, I would have pogo-ed.

After spending much of the day working on my laptop while watching America's Next Top Model, Cycle 2 reruns on VH-1 (such a classic season!), we watched the new Tori Spelling show which I had a copy of on DVD. It had a lot of promise but really fell flat overall. If you're not familiar with the concept it's a "sitcom reality show" about Tori Spelling's life. Meaning it's about Tori Spelling, starring Tori Spelling, but everything else is (ostensibly) made up. It had its moments but I think the whole show needs to be about poking fun at Tori Spelling. It should never let up in this quest. No mercy. Then it will be a winner.

Then we watched the New York Doll, the documentary about the band's 2004 reunion at Morrissey's Meltdown Festival. It mostly follows Arthur "Killer" Kane's journey from glam rock star to druggie to Mormon librarian to, for just a moment, rock star again....It's certainly not a comprehensive look at Kane's life but it's so engaging and moving and heartbreaking. And even though David Johansen seems like a major jerk in parts, I think even he redeems himself in the end. It comes out Tuesday - highly recommended.
